About the Business
There was a time - and it's not that long ago, that reclamation yards were only for those in the know, speculative builders who appreciated the timeless quality and legacy of the Victorian and Edwardian architectural heritage - as they say, they don't build them like they used to! And, moreover, it's true. In an age where materials were expensive and labour was cheap, the emphasis was very firmly on the visual and structural integrity of the built environment. There was no such thing as second best. Come the 21st century and labour is prohibitively expensive - so we live in an age of corners cut and the cheaper the better. Which is all well and good if we live in a 21st century home. However, if we live in a property where there was every attention to detail, it is a travesty - some would even argue an abandonment of all that's held sacred, to sacrifice the integrity of the property with modern building materials when the genuine originals are still available.
