About the Business
Southern Timber has become one of the South West's largest independent timber merchants. The business has grown quickly from its agricultural origins and now occupies a purpose built 3.5 acre site adjacent to the Ipplepen Business Park, near Newton Abbot. Investment continues in buildings, vehicles, employees and office technology to allow Southern Timber to respond to changes in timber supply and customer demands for timber products.
Starting life as a farm diversification in June 2001 the range of timbers has expanded from timbers and posts for agricultural and fencing applications. The extensive yard allows large quantities of Carcassing timbers to be maintained in stock, square & round posts, deckboards & balustrading, farm and garden gates, featheredge and fencing products are all available from stock. Outdoor projects from civil engineering to gardens are made easier with a range that includes oak & softwood sleepers, stockwalling, Yorkshire boarding and half-round poles.
