About the Business

Stamford Stone is a family business based just outside the beautiful stone town of Stamford in Lincolnshire.

Our story began in 1997 when a local builder, Ivor, wanted to find a cost-effective way of building with stone. George (our Managing Director) who was working in the reclaimed stone industry at that time was ready for a new venture. George and Ivor got talking. Add to that a ready supply of local limestone coupled with a thriving market, and a new business was born.

Investment has always been important to us - in 2001, we bought the Clipsham Quarry (Medwells), safeguarding our supply of the finest quality limestone and block stone and boosting our ability to satisfy both commercial and residential customers with a wider range of products. In 2014, we were granted planning permission to guarantee reserves for the next 30 years, protecting our heritage.
